HOLIDAYS

Return to HOME

Each Christmas, our family shared a communion host. As it was passed around the table, we broke off a piece and wished the person next to us health and happiness for the upcoming year. Afterwards, we said grace and ate.

Every New Year’s Eve Grandma Carole cooked us whatever we wanted for dinner. We ate by candlelight and drank Shirley Temples (which we called Kiddy Cocktails). We often ate shrimp and artichokes but sometimes I just wanted a pot pie.

Aunt Ellen made the best corned beef on St. Patrick’s Day.
