- 2 cups flour
- 2 cups sugar
- 2 sticks of butter
- 1 cup water
- 1/4 cup cocoa powder
- 2 eggs
- 1/2 cup buttermilk
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 stick of butter
- 6 tablespoons milk
- 1/4 cup cocoa powder
- 1 box confectioners sugar
- chopped nuts (optional)
- Combine the flour and the sugar.
- Boil together 2 sticks of butter, water, and ¼ cup cocoa powder.
- Add it to the flour mixture.
- Bake at 400 degrees in a greased jelly roll pan for 12-20 minutes.
- After baking 5 minutes, make the frosting.
- Boil together 1 stick of butter, milk, and ¼ cup cocoa powder.
- Add to the confectionary sugar. Beat until smooth.
- Frost cake while it and the frosting is hot.
- Sprinkle with nuts if desired.
