Grandma Carole’s Quick Cooking Chocolate Cake

  • 2 cups flour
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 2 sticks of butter
  • 1 cup water
  • 1/4 cup cocoa powder
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/2 cup buttermilk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 stick of butter
  • 6 tablespoons milk
  • 1/4 cup cocoa powder
  • 1 box confectioners sugar
  • chopped nuts (optional)
  1. Combine the flour and the sugar. 
  2. Boil together 2 sticks of butter, water, and ¼ cup cocoa powder.
  3. Add it to the flour mixture.
  4. Bake at 400 degrees in a greased jelly roll pan for 12-20 minutes.
  5. After baking 5 minutes, make the frosting. 
  6. Boil together 1 stick of butter, milk, and ¼ cup cocoa powder.
  7. Add to the confectionary sugar. Beat until smooth.
  8. Frost cake while it and the frosting is hot. 
  9. Sprinkle with nuts if desired.
