My Grandma Lottie and Grandpa John brought over chocolate chip mint ice cream when they came to visit because it was our favorite flavor. When our raspberries were ready to be picked, they would help our mom make jam. It was the hit of the neighborhood and the police and firemen were always the first in line to buy some.
One time at Grandma Kate’s house, we gorged ourselves on treats that she did not limit. We ate cookies, pudding, ice cream and candy to our heart’s content. Then we all got tummy aches. I remember her saying, “Your eyes are bigger than your stomach”.
Grandma Carole made homemade doughnuts that we sprinkled with powdered sugar and ate warm. They were so delicious.
